Choosing your vehicle
Box truck or cargo van?
The right starting point is the work you need to do. Compare the space, access and route before choosing a class.
Start with the load.
- List the items you expect to carry and measure the largest pieces.
- Think about the whole load, including packaging and any equipment that needs to travel with it.
- Note how many collections, stops and deliveries are planned.
Compare the vehicle format.
A cargo van has an enclosed van body. A box truck has a separate cargo box. Look beyond the vehicle name: interior dimensions, door openings and loading features matter to your job.
Consider the places you’ll visit.
- Make a note of parking space, loading areas and access restrictions at each location.
- Ask the office about the dimensions and features of the actual available vehicle.
- Confirm the vehicle class and rental dates before making plans around a specific vehicle.
